Concrete driveways
Long rural drives quoted by the foot; turnarounds and boat pads.
Concrete driveways (Kissimmee master page) →Polk City (population 3,007, 2025 EDR) is the small town at SR-33 and I-4 on the north end of the ridge, 27 miles from Kissimmee, surrounded by unincorporated Polk lots of an acre and up toward the Green Swamp. The work is rural: long driveways, RV and boat pads, workshop slabs, and pads that have to stay above water on the swamp-edge ground. Town limits use the town's process; most addresses are county.
Polk City sits where the dry Candler ridge meets the wet flatwoods and the Green Swamp: a lot on SR-33 may be Candler sand that needs a wetted base, and a lot two miles east on Fussels Corner Road may be Smyrna or Basinger sand with a summer water table at the surface where every pad is raised (Paver Base on Flatwoods Sand vs. Ridge Sand: Osceola and Polk Are Not the Same). Most lots are on wells and septic, so drives are routed clear of drainfields (Septic Drainfields and Driveways on Rural St. Cloud and Harmony Lots) and iron-stained by irrigation (Rust Stains From Well-Water Irrigation: Identify, Remove, Prevent). Mixer access across pasture and culverts is checked before we quote.
Polk County's Building Division FAQ requires permits for 'concrete slabs adjacent to a principal or accessory structure, intended for support of a structure, elevated slabs, sidewalks and portions of driveways in the right of way or within the minimum setbacks'; drainage requirements apply; pavers in the right-of-way need the owner's recorded Concrete Driveway Paver Release Form. Building Division: 330 W. Church Street, Bartow, and 200 Government Center Blvd, Lake Alfred, (863) 534-6080. Inside town limits, Polk City's process applies; confirm by phone. Pre-manufactured storage buildings are permitted structures.

Concrete driveways (Kissimmee master page) →Less common here; concrete apron rules apply.
Paver driveways →Rare; overlays on the few subdivision decks.
Paver pool decks →Settled pads and aprons; drainfield-adjacent repairs.
Concrete repair →| Item | Unit | Low | High | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concrete driveway, broom finish, 4 in, 3,000 psi, fiber + rebar at edges | sq ft | $8.50 | $13.50 | New pour on prepared base; demolition of an old slab adds $2.00–$4.00 |
| Concrete driveway, 6 in, 4,000 psi with #4 rebar grid (RV/boat loads) | sq ft | $11.50 | $17.00 | Thicker slab, more steel, same forming and finishing labor |
| Concrete pad (shed, AC, generator, hot tub), 4 in | sq ft | $9.00 | $15.00 | Minimum-charge jobs; a 10x12 pad typically lands at $1,200–$1,900 |
Long drives and workshop slabs dominate; the calculator gives a first number by the foot.
Straight-line distance from downtown Kissimmee: 26.8 miles (Census 2024 Gazetteer); drive estimate about 65 minutes. Population 3,007 (town, 2025 EDR). Polk County.
Polk City is small, roughly 3,007 residents for 2025, and sits about 27 miles from Kissimmee near the northern end of the county between Lakeland and the I-4 corridor. It is at the edge of what we cover regularly, and the honest position is that we take multi-day jobs here and decline half-day ones rather than pricing travel into small work.
The soils are ridge soils with the associated compaction requirement, and permitting is the Polk County Building Division for unincorporated addresses or the city for those inside the limits. The Van Fleet Trail and the lakes shape the lot patterns more than any single subdivision does.
Two things differ in a quote for a job this far out. Mobilisation is a real line rather than an absorbed cost, because a crew and equipment travelling an hour each way is an hour each way whether the job is large or small. And scheduling is less flexible: we will commit to consecutive days rather than fitting a job around closer work, because splitting a distant job across non-consecutive days doubles the travel.
What does not change is the specification. The base method, the thickness and steel for the load, the joint spacing and the drainage design are the same as they would be in Kissimmee, adjusted for ridge sand rather than flatwoods sand. Distance changes logistics, not standards.
If you are in Polk City and the job is a driveway, a paver field or a pool deck, call us and we will quote it properly. If it is a cracked panel, a shed pad or a trip hazard, you will get better value from a crew based in Lakeland or Winter Haven, and we will say so rather than pricing an hour of travel each way into a half-day job.
That is not modesty; it is how the numbers work. A crew travelling two hours for a three-hour job has spent most of the day on the road, and someone pays for that. We would rather be the people who told you than the people who quoted it.
The scope and rough size, so we can say honestly whether the distance makes sense. Whether the address is inside the city or in unincorporated Polk County, which decides the permitting. Whether there is an association. And whether access is straightforward for a ready-mix truck or a delivery, because on the larger lots around here that is not a given.
With those four answers we can usually tell you on the phone whether to book a visit or look closer to home, which saves everyone a trip.
Yes, quoted by the foot after a truck-access and septic check.
Ridge sand or flatwoods sand depending on which side of SR-33; the finder shows the county and we probe on site.
Six inches with a thickened edge and the building supplier's anchor layout; the building is permitted as an accessory structure.
About 27 miles; visits within three business days.
Tell us the size, the surface you have now and where the lot is. We visit, measure, check access and drainage, and send a written proposal. No pressure calls.
